Meet Brandi
My name is Brandi and I have a love of all things birth! It started when I was in high school dreaming of someday having a homebirth. My mom still says she has no idea where I got that crazy idea because she would have never dreamed that would be the route anyone would choose to take. I just knew that physiologically my body was strong enough and made for birth. Fast forward a few years when I met my husband in the military. As a family we started our journey together in NC where we grew from a couple into a family as we welcomed our first child in what seemed like a perfect homebirth. From that moment on I was hooked. I had debated being a labor and delivery nurse for a long time, however after my own experience I just knew I wanted to be a part of empowering other birthing individuals to realize their own inner strength.
As the military took our family to CO, NE where we added a little man to our family, and all the way to Northern Japan my love of all things birth grew and I was itching to get my foot in the door. I knew it would be a challenge since I am a full time Active Duty member in the Air Force but I needed to be a part of this birth movement I had been watching develop. It was never more evident to me than when we were surrounded by other military families that were thousands of miles from family and could really use the extra support. I traveled to Okinawa, where they have a great birth community, to attend a DONA workshop to become a Certified Birth Doula. I am currently a trained Labor Support Professional and I'm working towards my DONA certification. I have also attended training in the spinning babies techniques. I love being able to support moms and partners through such an empowering experience! I truly believe that every woman has the right to a caring and trusted aid- whether that be a natural approach, fully medicated, or any other alternative. I would love to bring evidence based wisdom to guide you and your partner to a beautiful birth, guidance through the birth of your child and birth of your family. I'm looking forward to meeting you and hearing your thoughts on this wonderful journey we will be taking together. |
