Meet Jen
Hey! I'm Jen.....I'm a pediatric LPN, RN BSN student, and mother to four beautiful little divas. Whooo, that was a mouthful! I love all things to do with birth and consider myself to be a bit of an addict of sorts. I have a passion for birth and helping others. Ever since I can remember, I have loved pregnancy, children, and learning. I even wanted to become an obstetrician!
I began learning all I could about pregnancy, labor, and postpartum in 2005 when a close friend became pregnant, and delved even deeper during my first pregnancy in 2007. Since that time, I have had four completely different birth experiences ranging from your typical hospital birth to an un-medicated almost home birth. I feel these very different experiences were very much due to my support team as well as the bedside manner of the medical teams. Best birth by far was the birth of my youngest daughter Edyn in November 2015, where I had the attendance of my doula & birth photographer, Sam (you can find my birth story here). I am a Birth Arts International trained birth doula, trained by former Philadelphia midwife & doula Beth Goldberg of Believe In Birth, and I knew that this was just the beginning of living my dream. I believe every woman should feel supported, educated, and empowered in her decisions regarding her pregnancy and child's birth, none of it has to suck or be a horrible experience. I am currently in school for my BSN, hoping to work in L&D. Once that is accomplished, I plan to continue school and become a CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife). I strive to help as many people. specifically women, as possible. An informed woman is an empowered woman :) |
